Hey there šŸ‘‹šŸ»

SalesBlink helps you track email opens, link clicks and replies.

With these stats you can better judge your results & improve.

Optionally, you can also disable tracking.

In this quick guide, we will be sharing (a bit technically) on how these are tracked.

šŸ‘ļø Tracking Email Opens

Email opens are tracked using a small, invisible image called a tracking pixel. This pixel is embedded in the email's HTML code.

  • Mechanism:

    • When the email is opened, the recipientā€™s email client loads the images within the email, including the tracking pixel.

    • This action sends a request to the server where the pixel is hosted, logging an "open" for that email.

  • Limitations:

    • If the recipientā€™s email client blocks images by default, the open will not be tracked unless the recipient chooses to display images.

    • Opens cannot be tracked for plain text emails that do not contain any images.

šŸ”— Tracking Clicks

Clicks are tracked through the use of unique tracking links, where your actual link is masked with a tracking link.

  • Mechanism:

    • Each link in the email is replaced with a unique tracking URL that redirects to the original destination URL.

    • When the recipient clicks on a link, they are first directed to the tracking URL, which logs the click, and then quickly redirected to the intended destination.

  • Benefits:

    • Provides data on which links were clicked, how many times, and by which leads.

    • Helps understand recipient engagement and interests.

  • Limitations:

    • The default tracking links used by SalesBlink might be considered as SPAM, it is recommended to use your custom domain or subdomain.

šŸ“„ Tracking Replies

Tracking replies typically involves monitoring the inbox for responses. Hence this does not work with SMTP Only emails.

  • Mechanism:

    • SalesBlink integrates with the email server to monitor for incoming replies via IMAP.

    • Each email is tagged or associated with a unique identifier to match replies to the corresponding campaign.

  • Benefits:

    • Measures direct engagement from leads.

    • Helps in assessing the effectiveness of the call-to-action links within the email.

Hope this guides gives you clarity on how SalesBlink tracks behind the scenes.
